My Work

I have been drawing and painting as well as experimenting with various media since the  1980’s.  Early on I focused on  whimsical expressions on paper and over time  moved to drawing those on pre-formed bisque. When I transitioned to raw porcelain clay, my artistic energies moved to 3-dimensional sculptural forms.

The 2020 arrival of the pandemic brought me back to my paints.

I craved the different expressive freedom that comes with brushstrokes and the wonderous tactile feedback of paper and canvas.

And just as I do with my porcelain sculptures, my work in oils and acrylics is an expression of my love of nature. I work  to bring in organic, intimate views of my surroundings in both the abstract and scenes that approach realism.

My gouaches--also all organic shapes-- have given me an opportunity to bring colorful, arresting shapes to paper that recall abstract kaleidoscopes.

I characterize the photography I am presenting here as haiku visuals of my natural surroundings—a beautiful place where the sea, coastal inlets and gardens provide painterly views year round. I have been capturing scenes in New England and abroad for more than 30 years.

My flat art as well as my porcelain sculptures can be purchased from Saatchi Art or direct from my studio.
